Bridges Cafeteria
University of Minnesota Medical Center and University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital
Located on the 8th floor of the hospital (Closed between 10:15-10:45 a.m. & 4:00-4:30 p.m.)
Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Auxiliary Coffee Shop
Located near the main lobby on the 2nd floor of the hospital
Hours: Mon. –Fri. 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sat. 6:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Sun. 7:00 a.m. – 12:00

Outside In Cafeteria
Located on the 2nd floor of the Phillips-Wangensteen Outpatient Clinic Building
Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Coffman Student Union, University of Minnesota
Restaurants, coffee shops, convenience store, bookstore, bank, deli, post office, travel agent, lounges, copy center (Call for current hours and services, as needed, Coffman Union Information: 612-624-4636.)

Coffman Union Hours:
Monday –Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Friday 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m.
Sunday 12 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Food Vendors and Restaurants:
Hours vary, sites begin opening between 7-10 a.m. and close between 2:30-10:00 p.m.

How to get to Coffman Union from University of Minnesota Medical Center using the tunnels:

  1. Take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor of the hospital. Walk down the hall toward the Mayo Building (the opposite direction from the Lobby and Main Hospital entrance)
  2. Stay to the right in the hallway and walk up the ramp, pass the ATM or cash machine.Go through the double doors toward the Mayo Building.
  3. Turn right and walk through the short skyway and through another set of double doors into the Mayo Building. You are now on the 3rd floor of the Mayo Building.
  4. Once in the Mayo Building turn left and walk down the hallway, following signs for "Main Elevators/Lobby." Turn right just after passing a drinking fountain on your right. Walk down the hall following signs toward the Elevators.
  5. Turn left at the elevators (just before the Lobby of the Mayo Building). Take an elevator down to 1st floor, Mayo Building.
  6. Once out of the elevator start following the round "Gopher Way" signs toward Coffman Union. Walk straight down the hall and go through the double, pink doors.
  7. Take a right at the T in the hall and then a quick left through a single door (again follow the "Gopher Way" signs toward Boynton Health and Coffman Union).
  8. Walk through the tunnel and follow signs for Coffman Union. You’ll end up on the Basement Level of Coffman Union. You can either walk up the flight of stairs to the Ground floor or go through the single door and down the hall to either the elevator or escalator.


Note: during evenings/weekends you may not be able to return via the tunnel. Call the Coffman Information Desk at 612-624-4636 to make sure.
