Your BMT Evaluation Results and
Pre-Transplant Conference at
University of Minnesota Medical Center

At the pre-transplant conference, you will meet with one of the transplant physicians. At this meeting you will discuss:

  • Your workup evaluation results
  • Whether BMT is the right treatment for you
  • The best timing for the transplant if you are going to have one

It is helpful to take notes.

Before your treatment can begin, you need to read, discuss, and sign consent forms. They list all the possible risks and complications of BMT. We know these documents can seem overwhelming. But it is important to read the consent forms carefully. Ask for explanations of anything you don’t understand. By signing these forms, you confirm that you understand and are willing to proceed with your transplant therapy.

You may be asked if you want to participate in additional research studies. These studies usually test ways to make transplantation safer and more effective. These studies are optional. You may choose whether or not to participate. If you wish to take part in these studies, you will need to sign additional consent forms.
