MINNEAPOLIS (June 3, 2010)—For the third consecutive year, University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital is among the nation’s best, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The hospital ranked among the top 30 children’s hospitals in the country in two medical specialties—earning a rank of 9th in kidney care and 24th in cancer treatment.
“This is fantastic news as we prepare to begin a new chapter in providing leading edge care for children,” said Kathie Taranto, president, University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. "It’s a great honor for all of our care professionals and validation that what we’re doing really makes a difference for our patients.”
The hospital is set to open a new facility early next year. The state of the art 227,000 square foot facility will bring mothers’ and children’s services into one location on Riverside Avenue in Minneapolis.
“It’s a tribute to all of our researchers and caregivers, who work tirelessly on behalf of their patients to bring the best of academic medicine to the bedside,” said Aaron Friedman, M.D., Ruben-Bentson Chair and Professor of Pediatrics, at the University of Minnesota.
It’s the third year in a row the hospital is ranked in cancer treatment and the second year in a row for treatment of kidney disorders.
The full rankings are available today on the magazine’s website and will hit newsstands July 27th.
